Illinois Half Marathon

I ran the Illinois Half Marathon today in Champaign-Urbana.  Officially finishing with a time of 2:03:40.  Pretty much where I expected to be at.  I thought I might have had a shot at getting under two hours but it wasn't meant to be.

I met up with several friends there.  Several in the Mangers family ran either the half or 10K and my buddy Bart ran the full marathon (3:27:59).

One of the tremendous blessings of the day was seeing my buddy, Eric, show up at around mile 8 to jump in and run a couple miles with me.  It was great to enjoy conversation with a good friend to get my mind off running some of most grueling miles of the race.  It made the run so much better and was a huge energy boost.  Thanks Hode!!

All in all, a great fun day.  Bart and I had lunch together at Panera Bread to close out the race day and headed our separate ways.

Dennis, Fox and Phil before the race.

Finish on the 50 yard line.

Runners coming in to finish.

Easter

We spent Saturday in Cissna Park w/ my family.  The little kids got to do the Easter Egg hunt at the park.  The big kids had one back at mom and dad's house.

Sunday was spent at our church.  We had an Easter breakfast, a time of great worship music and a great Easter service.  We spent the afternoon with Heather's parents and grandma in Francesville.

Cubs Game

Alex and I went up to the Cubs game today.  They played the Dodgers.  It was a rainy day but they got the game in.  We were glad it wasn't cancelled but the Cubs lost 12-2.  Poor pitching on the Cubs part.

We had a fun day anyway.  On the el train we ran into Alex's Gull Lake Ministries counselor who now lives in Wrigleyville!  So random but so cool.  He and Alex email back and forth fairly regularly.

Taylor MO

Heather took Alex and Emma down to Taylor, Missouri this weekend to help with her grandma's garage sale. She is moving out of her house to a condo and had a moving sale. It was a successful sale and they were able to get rid of quite a bit of stuff.

They had fun seeing all the relatives!
