Wow. Is January over already? And this is only my second blog post this month? Sorry to all you devoted checkers of Phil's Blog. But frankly, not a whole lot has happened this month. I can sum up the month in one word...cold. Hey, it's January in Indiana, what do you expect.
Well, I turned 34 yesterday which happened to be the jersey number of a certain Chicago Bear known as "Sweetness". So, I hope it's a "sweet" year. Today we celebrated Emma's birthday. My parents, brother and cousins came over for a party for her. We played games, ate cake and watched her open gifts. She turns 7 tomorrow. It's fun to have a birthday around the same time as that of one of your kids.
Last weekend I took a few teens to Ohio to a student leadership conference. The speaker spoke a lot on the book of Nehemiah. What grabbed my attention was the fact that in order to build the wall, each person had to do their own part to get it completed. That's all we have to do as well. Work on building our part of the wall for God's glory and His will will be done! God put you where you are b/c He has work for you to do there.
Alex had a great game today. His team won 43-41 against a team that was previously undeated and also beat them the last time his team played them. Alex didn't score any points today but he played solid defense and I was glad he could enjoy the thrill of the victory. In previous years he hasn't been on too good of teams.
That's about all there is to sum up for the month. I'll try to get some pictures up on here in the not too distant future.
